The New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) is dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of New Jersey residents, as well as improving the quality of health care in the state. It provides comprehensive public health services ranging from health education to disease prevention.
To better serve its diverse population, NJDOH places significant emphasis on health equity and addressing the specific needs of minority communities, including the Filipino American community. The Department’s Office of Minority and Multicultural Health is particularly focused on eliminating health disparities and improving health outcomes among underserved communities through education, outreach, and community partnerships.
Efforts to reach the Filipino American community include initiatives to increase awareness and access to health services, such as vaccination drives, chronic disease prevention programs, and family and community health services. Future plans involve expanding these initiatives and enhancing community engagement through collaboration with local Filipino organizations and leaders to ensure culturally competent and effective health interventions.
